For larger lawns, putting greens, or heavy traffic, a Roll & Comb power broom delivers faster, more consistent grooming with less effort.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How often should I groom my artificial turf?” tab_id=”faq5″][vc_column_text]Most residential lawns benefit from a light groom every few weeks, with deeper power-brooming a few times a year. Our turf brooms and Roll & Comb power brooms can be used on putting greens to stand fibres back up, redistribute infill, and keep the roll smooth—as long as you follow the turf manufacturer’s recommended infill depth.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Are your turf tools suitable for BC weather?” tab_id=”faq3″][vc_column_text]Our tools are chosen for West Coast conditions and can handle normal rain, moisture, and seasonal temperature swings. All of our turf grooming tools are homeowner-friendly. Contractors typically choose the larger Roll & Comb units and turf dollies, while most homeowners prefer the manual broom and smaller power broom for regular yard care.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Do you offer pickup and delivery for turf tools?” tab_id=”faq8″][vc_column_text]Yes. I Need Infill But I Not Sure What Type

When it comes to infill for your artificial turf, understanding the differences between silica sand and zeolite sand can help you determine what you have and if you need more. Silica sand is typically light tan or off-white and is used primarily for its weight and stability. This sand helps keep the turf in place and supports the blades so they stand upright, maintaining a natural look. It is also highly durable, resisting breakdown over time. You can identify silica sand by looking for light-colored granules and feeling the substantial weight when you press down on the turf.

On the other hand, zeolite sand, which is usually green or grayish-green, offers unique benefits like odor control and cooling. Zeolite effectively absorbs odors, especially from pet urine, by trapping ammonia and other compounds. It also helps reduce the turf’s surface temperature, making it cooler underfoot during hot weather. If you notice green or grayish-green granules mixed in your turf and experience less odor and cooler surface temperatures, you likely have zeolite sand.

Proper infill levels are crucial for the performance and longevity of your artificial turf. You should have between 1.5 to 3 pounds of infill per square foot. If you have insufficient infill, you may notice several issues. Flattened or compressed turf blades that do not spring back after being stepped on indicate a lack of infill. Weed growth can also be a sign, as gaps in infill allow weed seeds to take root. Persistent odors, especially from pets, suggest the need for more odor-absorbing infill like zeolite. A hot turf surface in the sun may mean you lack enough infill to help with cooling. Reduced cushioning, making the turf feel hard and less comfortable, is another sign you need more infill.

To check and add infill, start with a visual inspection to ensure a consistent layer of infill between the blades. Press down on the turf; it should have a noticeable cushion. If it feels too firm or flat, measure the current infill in a small area. If it’s below the recommended amount, Premium Grass Blades can spread more infill evenly across the turf and brush it in thoroughly. Maintaining the right amount of infill, whether it’s silica sand or zeolite sand, will enhance the appearance, performance, and longevity of your artificial turf.
