Why Clean Artificial
Grass Professionally?

Even with regular upkeep, artificial turf needs a professional deep clean at least once a year to stay fresh, functional, and looking its best.

Over time, organic debris, bacteria, moss, and algae can build up in the turf’s thatch layer—especially in shaded areas or homes with pets.

This can affect drainage, cause odours, and shorten your turf’s lifespan.

Our Turf Renewal Team uses professional-grade equipment and turf-safe disinfectants to remove contaminants, restore drainage, and rejuvenate your synthetic grass. The result? A cleaner, healthier, and like-new lawn—without the wear and tear. For installers and DIY homeowners looking to upgrade their toolkit, explore our full range of turf installation accessories to support your next project. How Do We Make Your Turf Look Brand New Again?

We offer four specialized turf cleaning treatments—each designed to meet different needs and environments.

A quick and effective option for a light refresh—ideal for areas without pets. We remove surface debris and
lift organic buildup like moss and algae with a power groomer. Infill top-up may be recommended to help
blades stand tall and maintain their natural look.

Perfect for your annual or semi-annual deep clean. We remove debris and surface weeds, power groom the
fibers, and apply a turf-safe cleaning solution. Our chemical injection and
extraction process sanitizes both the turf and infill—safe for children and pets.

Designed for pet-friendly yards. This service removes waste, odors, and grime using a turf-safe enzymatic
cleaner and deodorizer. We also offer optional Zeolite infill replenishment to help consistently neutralize lingering pet odors between cleanings.

Tailored for commercial, fitness, and athletic turf. We remove debris, sanitize the surface, and perform a deep machine clean using industrial-grade equipment. Essential for maintaining hygiene, appearance, and performance in high-use areas.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY SYNTHETIC GRASS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED?

We recommend having your artificial grass
professionally cleaned twice a year:

  • Before spring, remove moss, algae, and organic buildup that may have developed over the fall and winter.
  • Before fall, once seasonal items like patio furniture, pools, and play structures are removed. This helps minimize indentations and clears away any film left behind by sunscreens or pool chemicals.

Our cleaning solutions are safe for kids, pets, and synthetic grass—giving you peace of mind with every service.

I Need Infill But I Not Sure What Type

When it comes to infill for your artificial turf, understanding the differences between silica sand and zeolite sand can help you determine what you have and if you need more. Silica sand is typically light tan or off-white and is used primarily for its weight and stability. This sand helps keep the turf in place and supports the blades so they stand upright, maintaining a natural look. It is also highly durable, resisting breakdown over time. You can identify silica sand by looking for light-colored granules and feeling the substantial weight when you press down on the turf.

On the other hand, zeolite sand, which is usually green or grayish-green, offers unique benefits like odor control and cooling. Zeolite effectively absorbs odors, especially from pet urine, by trapping ammonia and other compounds. It also helps reduce the turf’s surface temperature, making it cooler underfoot during hot weather. If you notice green or grayish-green granules mixed in your turf and experience less odor and cooler surface temperatures, you likely have zeolite sand.

Proper infill levels are crucial for the performance and longevity of your artificial turf. You should have between 1.5 to 3 pounds of infill per square foot. If you have insufficient infill, you may notice several issues. Flattened or compressed turf blades that do not spring back after being stepped on indicate a lack of infill. Weed growth can also be a sign, as gaps in infill allow weed seeds to take root. Persistent odors, especially from pets, suggest the need for more odor-absorbing infill like zeolite. A hot turf surface in the sun may mean you lack enough infill to help with cooling. Reduced cushioning, making the turf feel hard and less comfortable, is another sign you need more infill.

To check and add infill, start with a visual inspection to ensure a consistent layer of infill between the blades. Press down on the turf; it should have a noticeable cushion. If it feels too firm or flat, measure the current infill in a small area. If it’s below the recommended amount, Premium Grass Blades can spread more infill evenly across the turf and brush it in thoroughly. Maintaining the right amount of infill, whether it’s silica sand or zeolite sand, will enhance the appearance, performance, and longevity of your artificial turf.
